The Wedding Photography Experience
If you are planning a wedding in Savannah, Tybee Island, or coastal Georgia, this guide explains what it is like to work with Josh Stewart as your wedding photographer.
Wedding photography should support the day, not complicate it. My goal is to photograph your wedding in a way that feels organized, natural, and easy to move through.
Every wedding is different, but most wedding days follow a similar rhythm. Here is how photography usually fits into the day.
Getting Ready Photos
Wedding coverage often begins with getting ready photos and detail shots. This part of the day is relaxed and gives everyone time to ease into being photographed.
I capture things like rings, invitations, dresses, and small candid moments while everyone prepares. These photos help tell the full story of the wedding day.
Ceremony Photography
The ceremony is the heart of the wedding day.
As a Savannah and Tybee Island wedding photographer, I focus on documenting the ceremony as it naturally unfolds. I capture the key moments, reactions, and atmosphere while working quietly in the background.
The goal is to preserve the experience without interrupting it.
Family Photos After the Ceremony
Family photos usually happen right after the ceremony.
Family photos usually happen right after the ceremony.
I guide the groupings so we move through them quickly and everyone can get back to the celebration.
Having a simple list of family combinations ahead of time helps everything stay organized and efficient also helps sometimes.
Wedding Couple Portraits
Portrait time can happen before the ceremony, after the ceremony, or during sunset depending on the timeline. Sometimes we have fifteen minutes, sometimes closer to an hour, and I adjust the approach to fit the time available.
I provide clear direction while keeping things natural. You do not need to know how to pose. My job as your wedding photographer is to guide you so the photos feel comfortable and genuine.
These portraits are often some of the most meaningful photos from the entire wedding.
Reception Photography
During the reception I focus on both the important events and the candid moments.
This includes entrances, first dances, toasts, and the energy on the dance floor. At the same time I watch for genuine interactions between guests and small moments that happen throughout the evening.
The goal is to capture the atmosphere of the celebration as it actually felt.
A Flexible Wedding Photography Approach
Weddings rarely run perfectly on schedule, and that is completely normal.
My approach stays flexible so the photography adapts to the real flow of the day. Some of the best photos happen when moments unfold naturally.
At the end of the day the focus is simple.
You enjoy your wedding. I make sure the moments are captured.
