Recommendations From a Local

A lot of people ask me for recommendations when they visit Tybee Island. This page provides my opinions, as a local, on some of the best places

Food

  • Raw Ingredients

If you like sushi this place is for you. I’ve been eating here regularly since the day they opened and have never been disappointed.

  • Sunrise Cafe

A relaxed breakfast place. It reminds me of Waffle House, but better. You can also see a 25 foot custom print I did for them on their wall.

  • Salt Island

Great food at great prices. Much of their menu is seafood, but its not all that they have. I definitely recommend checking out their menu because you will find something you like.

  • Bubba Gumbo’s

A fantastic seafood restaurant on the north end. Its the only place on the island where you can eat fresh caught local shrimp. It really does make a difference!

  • Sundae Cafe

Outstanding food and some of the finest dining on the island! They have delicious a dinner menu that I can’t recommend enough.

Lodging

  • Admirals Inn

Short of renting a house, the best place to stay is the Admirals Inn. Its in a great location near the pier and its where my family sometimes stays when they come to visit.

  • Tybee Beach Vacation Rentals

This company has a large selection of great houses to book. All shapes, sizes, and locations can be found to suit your needs.

Sunset Spots

  • Chatham Ave Beach Access

The back river of the island is, in my opinion, the best sunset spot. The sun sets over Little Tybee and it is absolutely breath taking.

  • The Lighthouse

There’s nothing quite like watching the sun set behind the lighthouse. Its cliché and classic for a reason.

  • Savannah Beach and Racquet Club

The beach at the Beach and Racquet Club is a fantastic spot for watching sunset. Often you can watch shrimp boats and cargo ships in the distance while the sun sets.
