How to Get Around & Where to Park
Parking and Logistics
Tybee is small, but it helps to know where to park, what to bring, and how things work around here. This page keeps it simple so you can focus on enjoying the island
🅿️ Parking Basics
Pay to Park: Nearly all public parking on Tybee is paid. Use the Park TYB app or pay at the kiosks.
Rates: As of 2025, it's $4 per hour with a 2 hour minimum, enforced from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., seven days a week.
Where to Park: Look for clearly marked spaces, curbs and lines. Popular lots are near the pier and Hotel Tybee (South Beach), North Beach, and the smaller Back River parking lots.
Free Parking? After 8 PM and before 8 AM. Sometimes around Christmas and New Years the city will offer free parking, though the dates seem to change each year. Check the city website for more info!
🧭 Getting Around
Walkable Island: Once you’re parked, most of Tybee is walkable or bikeable.
Golf Carts & Rentals: Available all over the island. Great for short hops, but not beach-legal.
Bike-Friendly: Bring your own or rent. Bike racks are everywhere.
📦 What to Bring
Essentials: Sunscreen, water, bug spray (especially at dusk, trust me), and beach gear.
Cash & Card: Most places take cards, but it’s good to have cash for small vendors or tips.
Look Up the Tides: High tide can sneak up. Knowing when it’s coming helps with beach days. Also pay attention to any official warning signs on the beach, they are there for very real safety reasons.
🚻 Restrooms & Showers
